Sony hacked.... again.

Sony hacked again, 1M passwords hit

Hackers struck anew against Sony, breaking into the website of its movie arm Sony Pictures and posting the stolen data online.

LulzSec, which had earlier broken into the sites of Sony Music Japan and Public Broadcasting Service earlier, claimed to have compromised the private data of over a million Sony Pictures customers.

Original article here.

The reason I am posting this is because I'd like to raise awareness of internet security. Also of people simply don't know you even need security, let alone that their information is vulnerable.

This really is the next battlegroumd, and the blackhat hackers will steal more and more data as the years progress. Hacking used to be reserved for corporate espionage but now I think we will start to see hackers taking advantage of systems for their own gain - remember, many hacker groups have stated that the REAL pro's can do it without being detected, and groups that go public do so only for political purposes. People should be lucky this time it was too make a point and not profit!

  5. I thank groups like this for going public with the data... it will constantly raise the level of data security from other companies who just freaked out when they saw Sony was hacked.

  19. >.< Hacktivists... well if its for a good cause I might agree, but accessing information that is not yours is something you should not do! (this is for hacktivists, large companies and governments!)

  20. so, if you were to incorporate a password stealing program into some "free" software, and compile a list of people's bank accounts and create an automated program to access all of the accounts and transfer a mere $1 into an offshore bank account, you could be very rich!... now imagine on a yet larger scale... very devistating. When groups or people come out with information like this i feel that it causes companies to put more effort into their security and in turn makes a safer place for the end user, however you never know when the real hackers are there...

  21. Again? Sony should be much better than this, maybe they should hire some of the hackers rather then suing them.
